Can’t we all Just get along?
I sent this video around all the State Pages on Facebook a few weeks back, but thought it needed a special post here on the Blog site as well. It’s a great video fro “Infidel Amsterdam” that i believe EVERY Metal head should listen to, I’ll give a quick breakdown of how it goes.. (Check him out on FB / Youtube at the links above)
The vid is mainly talking about the hypocrisy of most people throughout the METAL community. He discusses the constant “Genre wars” flooding the internet, the endless debates on what Metal IS and Is NOT, shit talking about wardrobe choices, etc etc. The list goes on and on.. The question of the video is – why is it this way? Metal heads, scene kids, aggressive music fans, etc have grown up in a world where they are always looked at differently..
The point the guy is trying to make is simple – in the eyes of the rest of the world, any Metal fan – whatever the sub-genre may be, are looked at as the same… Outsider’s don’t look at a Hardcore fan and a Death Metal fan, and see two different “Scenes”. They see you as two in the same – as someone with “Alternative Lifestyle choice..” So why is there so much animosity, and shit talking towards each other in the Metal/Aggressive scene?
Now, i’m smart enough to realize we’ll this perfect unity in the METAL scene, it’s just not realistic. BUT, we can all make it a point to be a little bit more open to the fact that there are many definitions of METAL. Some of the comments on the Battle of the Bands posts lead me to re-post this video, and write this short article. Can we not listen to band, realize it’s just not for us – and move along? Must we talk shit to the other band, just for the fuck it? I realize that’s going to happen in a “contest” of any sort, but you’d think of ALL people – Metal Heads would learn to be a little more understanding, and respectful of other “styles” of Aggressive / Extreme music.. You don’t have to like / acknowledge other forms of Metal – but you don’t have to be complete dicks to them either…

We will always have Sub-Genre search options available to give you quick access to your preferred style, and filter out those that you don’t.. Check out some other genres here and there though, you might just find something else you like out there!
